Over the years we have been chosen to work for a range of prestigious projects for the rail industries in the UK; having captured projects for many clients, such as The Department for Transport, HS2, Crossrail, Network Rail, MerseyRail, Volker Rail, Maritime Transport Ltd, DB Cargo amongst others. We are proud to be the UK’s leading provider for time-lapse solutions for the rail industry. Our fully customisable systems, which are developed in-house, allow us to capture in many differing and complex environments, which is often essential for the challenges inherent in this genre of work.
Whilst we capture these complex projects over many months and years in duration, it is always interesting to see how others use time-lapse to capture different spaces, places and activities connected to rail, which may be of particular interest to rail enthusiasts.
Recording Train Stations: Using Time-Lapse to Show Activity
AlexMetroman uses time-lapse to showcase the hustle and bustle of passengers at Earl’s Court Station and the inbound and outbound trains. This striking video shows S Stock trains at the District Line Platform. This Grade II listed London Underground Station was first opened in 1871 and remains an important interchange with millions of people using it each year.
Zurich Train Station
This YouTube user has created a time-lapse sequence showing trains at Zurich Train Station. This six-minute video shows the trains arriving and leaving the station against the backdrop of the city. The elevated position of the camera allows the vast number of tracks to clearly be in shot showing the station as a busy hive of activity.
Hamburg Train Station
Railscapes Trains & Travel uses time-lapse to document the city of Hamburg by rail. The sequence is interspersed with images of the tracks from the water giving a beautiful variety and atmospheric context to the video. The video features capture from the train station, tracks and a number of city views looking out onto trains to articulate the high traffic density of these urban areas.
Time-Lapse of Model Railways
The building of scale models of trains is a popular recreational activity. There are many online fan videos showing the careful construction of intricate environments or ‘layouts’ for these model railroads. Train Timelapses’ YouTube video offers a tour of a stunning intricately designed train layout documented using time-lapse captured from a model train as it moves along the tracks.
At Time-Lapse Systems we capture in more challenging environments and for different purposes. Our clients know that our experienced in-house team can provide micro-managed capture even in the most challenging environments. Our skilled and accredited engineers all have SIPPS accreditations as well as IPAF, PASMA and CSCS qualifications. For some of our clients, such as HS2, we complete dedicated accreditations. Plus, for all work in proximity to working tracks, we hold trackside permits. All this ensures that all our projects adhere to the highest health and safety protocols required for rail work. Additionally, our iRis (interactive remote imaging system) allows all interested parties to monitor progress across a range of sites on one easy-to-use hub. Despite our rails projects requiring the highest standards in professional bespoke equipment, expertise and experience, we love watching the way the rail industries and infrastructure is captured and represented in all ways by professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Please call our approachable and experienced team to discuss your project.
